I've been to gyro places all over CT and all the big cities in NY and Boston. Nothing I have tried comes close to sam's. Fast service great quality and friendly people.
We got chicken gyros and they were really good! They came with lots of veggies, including tomato, onion, lettuce, and pepper. My only two complaints are: the tzatziki sauce was a little too spicy for me and overwhelmed the flavors. It would have been nice if there was something to counteract it like olive oil and/or feta. And the wrap was overstuffed with ingredients. It was nice to have a hearty meal for the price, but it was the most messy thing I've ever eaten because the pita didn't even wrap fully around the fillings.
Definitely a hidden Gem. We decided to do gyros for lunch today and when someone mentioned Sam's Gyro I was all for it. They have a mix of burgers gyros and an amazing Greek salad!! My chicken gyro was amazing !! The portions are huge and definitely worth the price. They were also very accommodating with our big order . I would definitely recommend checking this place out you will not be disappointed!!

This place is a hidden gem. Basic but comprehensive menu of American and Middle Eastern comfort food (think burgers, gyro's, greek salads, etc) inside a small ornately decorated place. Outdoor seating as well. The food is prepared very quickly, all of the ingredients are very fresh, and the portions are MASSIVE (the gyro's are Chipotle burrito sized) 9
Sam's was delicious! We ordered the combination platter, a beef/lamb gyro, and a side of hummus. All of it was excellent. I'm glad they had authentic shawarma on the vertical grills/broilers, and didn't just cook the meat on the grill and call it shawarma. Also, a side of hummus is a great option, if you are not interested in ordering the full appetizer plate. The combination platter was better than expected, and definitely the best Mediterranean platter I've had in the Hartford area. The gyro was stuffed and well worth the price. The hummus was tasty, but very dry. I asked for olive oil and the waiter mentioned that they don't have any, which I thought was very odd. Aside from that, the service was quick, the ambiance was nice, and there was outdoor seating which was great. Also, all of the meat, aside from the bacon used on the burgers, is halal according to the staff. Overall, highly recommend for an excellent Mediterranean experience.
